I’m a proud member of the tiny plant club— when I first started this garden area a few years ago I focused on plants that I could add on the cheap that would fill out quickly and have contrast well. Hostas, peonies, and dahlias, iris are easy to find relatively cheaply from bare root— the rest of the perennials were quart containers— plants like full moon coreopsis, opening act phlox, Georgia blue speedwell, and sedum are fast growers and easy to divide later and spread around the garden. Now… the trees were all birthday splurges— but for a while there was more mulch than plants in these beds and now things are filling out 🤩. Go go go! 🚨 Tomato Tuesday Tip 🍅 On indeterminate tomatoes I check for suckers and prune a few times a week. If I miss a sucker and it’s larger, I’ll go ahead and propagate it. I like to have “backup” tomato plants growing in case my plants get hit with wilt. If I don’t need them?
