Look! I launched a blog!
I’m horrible about writing “about me” type introductions; but I learned in grade school that all written communications should start off with an introduction… so here we go. Hi, I’m Michelle. I started sharing on social media three years ago during the pandemic when the world seemingly shut down. I have been gardening for a long time and during the pandemic lost my plant nerd friends in the office and wanted to find new plant friends. So I did what any elder millennial would do and started a plant Instagram account [gardensandchickens] — where I share information about my gardens and my chickens (clever name, huh?). In the process, I’ve learned that I really do love sharing plant information online: what to grow, how to grow it, and how to take care of it. I want to help more people overcome the “fear of failure” that happens in gardening. I truly believe the more gardeners there are in the world; the better the world will be.
I will be completely transparent and say that I’m not sure how “active” this blog will be. The reason behind venturing away from instagram and launching this blog + a YouTube channel is because some content just can’t be presented in a 60 second video, or even a longer format video. There’s a place for written content — lists you can save and reference again in the future.
So that was the idea behind the blog.
If this is your first time finding me — welcome! I am most active on Instagram + Youtube but on this website you will find written care guides as I create them as well as links to my favorite garden tools. [Yes, some of them will be affiliate — it doesn’t cost you a dime, but it might add a flower to my garden in the future].
Thank you for being here, thank you for engaging with my content — without you; there would be no “gardensandchickens”.
